Center for High Impact Practices (CHIP) ePortfolio Assistant

I began as an ePortfolio Assistant during my third year as an undergraduate student at Old Dominion University. When I joined we were doubling in numbers and I was able to help recruit new assistants to join the team. We are able to help promote our services throughout campus and I am a huge advocate for the use of ePortfolios for students along with faculty and staff.

As an undergraduate eportfolio assistant, I have helped students with:

  • Working with ePortfolio programs such as: Google Drive, Google Sites, Wix and Wordpress;

  • Developing multimedia elements for ePortfolios such as images, video, and sudio elements;

  • Exploring other digital tools such as web-conferencing platforms, social media. and productivity tools.

In the Old Dominion University ePortfolio program, we believe in helping students find what makes them unique and showcase it in a more appealing way than just a resume. There is no better way than creating a showcase ePortfolio to use as a tool to show the world what you can do. An ePortfolio is one of the best tools to help students share their academic/professional goals and interests while still holding true to their personality. An ePortfolio demonstrates skills and experiences of the user for all viewers to see. ePortfolios allow the user to archive work and can be home to a variety of documents, videos, voice recordings, music playlists, pictures, slideshows, hyperlinks, and much more.

The ePortfolio Program has benefited hundreds of students across campus and continues to increase. As of April 2019, we have:

  • conducted over 90 class visits

  • organized over 15 workshops in the 2018-2019 year

  • Hosted over 20 hours of open studio sessions

  • And much more!
